PRINT CONSULTANCY

A vital aspect of any promotional project is the final printed item – its suitability, its cost, its quality and value for money.

Print specification is an important part of the design process – size, format and finishing are elements which influence the design decisions. The  teamwork of designer and print consultant that we offer, results in a quality, cost effective, design and print solution.

Sue, our print consultant, has many years experience in the print industry having worked in production, estimating and sales for leading printers in south Wales.

QUOTATIONS & PRICING

Every print job is different – so we quote every job individually.

Working with our designer, Sue compiles a print specification which is sent out to several suitable printers for quotations. The results are analysed and presented to the client with our recommendations. Sue uses her experience of the printing industry to assess the printers’ quality, cost, delivery schedules and reliability to make a recommendation – it’s not always the cheapest first. The client makes the final choice where to place the print.

We have a pool of high quality printers, both local and nationwide, with whom we regularly place print orders and have a good working relationship.

We know which printers to approach for short-run, leaflets and flyers – or high quality, prestige brochures with special finishes – or long-run many-page catalogues and magazines.

OFFSET LITHO

Practically every leaflet and brochure you handle is printed offset litho, and south Wales has a wealth of such printers, many with enviable reputations for the quality of work they produce and we have tested them thoroughly over the years.

Print companies vary by the size of machinery they operate, their binding equipment and specialist finishing facilities – but knowing which companies to approach to get the best result for your particular project is the what the art of print buying is all about.

For instance a company who produces prestige catalogues or high volume magazines won’t always give the best price for single colour price lists or business cards.

WEB OFFSET

Basically the same process as above but intended for larger print runs – in the 100s of thousands – usually for large catalogues, holiday brochures and magazines and newspapers. We have project-managed and produced many high volume catalogues some of which have included organising personalised mailsort delivery.

DIGITAL PRINTING

Short print runs and jobs not requiring the highest quality lend themselves to digital printing which can be a very cost-effective print technique. We have plenty of local digital printers but we also deal with some online services which can be even cheaper.

Not all jobs are suitable for digital printing – and not all digital printers offer the same quality – fortunately we know the difference and can give unbiased advice to ensure your print project is produced to the best your budget will allow.

LARGE FORMAT PRINTING

Great for exhibitions, point-of-sale signage and decoration within your offices and reception areas.

Once you have your printed literature sorted all the design elements can be easily transferred to make large potsers, canvas banners, flags, window displays, vehicle livery and much more.

Again we have several local suppliers who produce the highest quality work and we have used many online producers

ONLINE PRINTERS

We have had potential clients who have declined our services and decided to print their leaflets using online print companies whose prices are lower than ours – they have generally been disappointed with the results.

We regularly use online printers for certain types of work – they are not all bad. The fact is we know many who are good to deal with but more importantly we know how to present print files to them.

Together with our local printers, this diversity gives us a great scope to find the best price for any project you have in mind.
